My Tumblr’s going on strike tomorrow against this ridiculous piece of legislation. Your Tumblr can too!

Subcomandante Marcos of the EZLN (Zapatista Army of National Liberation) talks about the alternatives to living a life controlled by mass media.

This man talks like him, but I don’t see his green eyes. I always think it’s a possibility he could be having someone else pose as him. The movement officially has no leader, so it would make sense.

In any case, I think the mask is a fantastic leveling mechanism, allowing the movement to have no official leader while still offering it some organization. Don’t think the mask thing would be taken too seriously here in the US if say, Occupy, used it. But still, I dig it. And he’s got some great things to say.

If you haven’t heard of Marcos or the EZLN, I strongly suggest you look it up. They were occupying cities in Mexico long before it started in the US.

HORRENDOUS reaction of police at the scene of Occupy UC Davis. A friend of mine was present at this protest. Nonchalant use of wild amounts of pepper spray on peaceful protesters sitting on the ground of the school they pay thousands of dollars a year for. Great to see American tax dollars at work?

Despite the arrests and the pepper spray, the event actually ended in a pretty nice victory for protesters, who were able to peacefully coerce the cops to leave the quad. Great job guys =]
